One of the great things about the Cuban/Puerto Rican baseball cards is that often times they offer the only glimpse on cardboard of prominent Negro Leaguers. This is the case here, as this is the only card of Homestead Gray southpaw Roy Partlow. Partlow was a mound mainstay during the Homestead dynasty, pitching in several World Series and an all star game. He was also a decent hitter (he win the batting title in 1940-41) and played the outfield on occasion, and was a star in Puerto Rico throughout the 1940’s.
This card is VG-EX, but presents much nicer as it has sharp corners, great color, perfect centering, and a clean back. The culprit for the lower grade is a light crease running vertically from the bottom center of the card. If you want a card of the hard-throwing lefty this is your only chance.
