1931 Doble Aguila #171 Millito (Puerto Rican star Emilio "Millito" Navarro). Navarro was the second Puerto Rican to play in the American Negro Leagues. Card shows heavy wear to corners and edges, typical for the issue.
Doble Aguila is a Venezuelan issue primarily distributed in 1931 and 1932, and is one of the only Latin American sets issued in the 1930’s. While incredibly scarce, there were also some cards issued in 1934 and 1935. In the 1931 and 1932 sets, cards #1-200 are from 1931, and cards #201 and above are from 1932. There are several runs of boxing cards within both years. Unlike many Latin American issues that are on thin stock or on photographic paper, these cards are on a thick stock similar to that used for Topps vintage 1950’s cards. They measure just over 2 ¾” x 1 ¾”.
