1926-27 Aguilitas card #839 of Miguel Angel González. Along with Adolfo Luque, one of the true patriarchs of Cuban baseball.

Was the 3rd Cuban to play in the Majors (behind Marsans & Almeida) when he debuted in 1912. Had a 17 year Major League career and later managed the St. Louis Cardinals. One of the few players to play in the Major Leagues, the Cuban Leagues and the Negro Leagues.

In spite of such a long career in the Majors, González is generally remembered for two things:

1. He was the 3rd base coach when Enos Slaughter’s mad dash scored the winning run of the 1946 World Series.

2. He coined the phrase “Good field, no hit” when filing a scouting report via telegraph on unknown catching prospect Moe Berg.

Card is graded a 40 (VG) by SGC.
