Although these Billikens grade only P-F (Rojo is trimmed on the top edge), they do feature nice photographic images of forgotten baseball heroes and are so rare that you may not see another example of these players for a long time. Julio Rojo was the regular catcher for the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants, Baltimore Black Sox and New York Lincoln Giants throughout the 1920’s. He also had a long career in his homeland and is a member of the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame. Oscar Levis had a solid Negro League career in the states and was a borderline star in Cuba where the big Panamanian southpaw led the league in wins on two separate occasions. Rafael “Busta” Quintana was a utility infielder in Cuba and also spent a couple years in the Negro Leagues. Billikens in any condition are worthy of attention and admiration.
