1949-50 Toleteros card of Willard Brown (HOF) SGC A. Brown’s legacy was primarily made in the Negro Leagues as a member of the Kansas City Monarchs where he hit .357 in 13 seasons and earned the nickname "Home Run Brown." His nickname in Puerto Rico was "Ese Hombre" (That Man) and he is widely considered the greatest player in the history of the Puerto Rican League, winning not one but TWO triple crowns, including the 1949-50 season in which this card was produced. He led the league in home runs three years in a row, won three batting titles, and is the career batting average leader hitting at a .350 clip on the island. He was also the first Black player to hit a home run in the American League when he hit an inside-the-park home run for the St. Louis Browns in 1947. This card is graded Authentic due the right edge being trimmed.

The second Toleteros set in ‘49-50 expanded to 216 cards and retained the game-card concept. Measuring about 1¼" x 2¼", the cards feature black-and-white portrait photography with player names below the image. They were distributed in Puerto Rico and included numerous Negro League and Major League stars.
