This is a late Cuban gum card issue and one of the final traditional pre-revolution Cuban baseball sets, produced for the 1956–57 Winter League season. The set contains 40 total cards, though numbering is skip-sequenced up into higher numbers, which often confuses collectors into thinking it is larger. Cards are printed on thick American-style card stock (similar to U.S. Topps/Bowman quality), making it one of the most “modern-feeling” Cuban issues of the era. Distribution is believed to have been tied to gum/candy-style retail packs in Cuba, and the design features color player portraits with simple name and team identifiers.
