1950-51 Toleteros In Action #170 of Negro Leaguer George Scales PSA 3. This is a pop 4 card in any grade at PSA.
Scales was among 39 final candidates considered for the Baseball Hall of Fame's Class of 2006 by the Committee on African-American Baseball, however he was not among the 17 elected. Scales hit .320 over a 25-year career, and also managed for twelve seasons in the Puerto Rican Winter League, winning six pennants.
The standard 1950-51 Toleteros issue marked a major visual upgrade, switching to color photography and larger cards measuring roughly 1¾" x 2½". Unlike the earlier sets, these cards are blank-backed rather than game cards. The issue is especially prized for its striking photography and legendary player roster, including rare cards of Negro League stars such as Josh Gibson. The set consists of a 180 card main set and a 178 card “In Action” subset as seen here.
