Of all the players depicted on the Puerto Rican cards, few were more important to the Negro Leagues than the versatile superstar Sam Bankhead. In fact, he is a first team member of the definitive 1952 Pittsburgh Courier poll for the all time all star team (along with 12 HOFers). Bankhead was a valuable member of several of the greatest teams in history – the Pittsburgh Crawfords of the mid-1930’s, the famed 1937 Trujillo team, and the Homestead Grays dynasty of the 1940’s. Sam was a seven time all star at five different positions, he was a terrific fielder with a rocket arm, an outstanding clutch hitter, and a tremendous base stealer. He also had MVP-type seasons in California, Cuba, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Truly one of the greats of the game.

This card is a nice pleasant VG with no back problems and a good image.
