The 1949–50 Alerta premium series is among the more elusive and visually compelling Cuban baseball issues of the postwar era, produced in oversized photographic format during a peak period of winter league baseball in Cuba. Issued in limited quantities as promotional premiums rather than mass-distributed collectibles, surviving examples are scarce, particularly for key Negro League subjects, and remain highly regarded within advanced Cuban baseball collecting circles.
