1950-51 Toleteros card of Negro Leaguer Buster Clarkson. Graded a 2 by SGC. Buster “Buzz” Clarkson was a standout Negro Leagues infielder (shortstop/third baseman) known for his power bat and long career across the U.S., Mexico, and the Caribbean. Before reaching MLB in 1952, Clarkson starred in the Negro Leagues from the late 1930s through the 1940s with teams like the Pittsburgh Crawfords, Newark Eagles, and Philadelphia Stars, where he built a reputation as a strong hitter and reliable veteran presence.

He also spent significant time in Mexico and other Latin American leagues, continuing to post big offensive numbers during the wartime and postwar baseball boom. In Puerto Rico, Clarkson became especially important. He played extensively in the Puerto Rican Winter League (Liga de Béisbol Profesional de Puerto Rico) during the 1940s and 1950s, eventually becoming a key veteran leader for the Santurce Crabbers, where he helped guide championship teams and mentored younger stars. His long winter-ball tenure made him a familiar figure on the island well into his 40s.

The standard 1950-51 issue marked a major visual upgrade, switching to color photography and larger cards measuring approximately 1¾" x 2½. Unlike the earlier sets, these cards are blank-backed rather than game cards. The issue is especially prized for its striking photography and legendary player roster, including rare cards of Negro League stars such as a posthumous issue of Josh Gibson.
