1950-51 Toleteros Alfonso Gerard SGC 1, pop 5 in all grades at SGC. Card is graded "poor" due to paper loss on the reverse.

Gerard was a professional U.S. Virgin Islander baseball outfielder in the Negro Leagues. Gerard was the first Virgin Islander to play in a recognized major league, and the only one to play in the Negro Leagues.

The well-traveled Gerard also played professionally in Canada, Dominican Republic, and the Puerto Rican Winter League.

The standard 1950-51 Toleteros issue marked a major visual upgrade, switching to color photography and larger cards measuring roughly 1¾" x 2½". Unlike the earlier sets, these cards are blank-backed rather than game cards. The issue is especially prized for its striking photography and legendary player roster, including rare cards of Negro League stars such as Josh Gibson.
